| GERMAN BERNAL CAICEDO Killing Time T h e C u r v a t u r e o f S p a c e Installation 11.12.2008 - 4.1.2009
A drawing installation made on paper in order to tear up the concept of flatness and space. The intention is to enter in the space itself. Not depicting the space but engaging with it. The drawing becomes permeable by breaking down the borderline between interior and exterior. Thus it can be observed like an object. By walking around and between the installation, the protagonist is not the object, but the dynamic space created around the object. The interactive action creates a new awareness. Observing the installation causes different but very simple sensations. At first we may see things we later discover to not be there at all, or rather by looking longer and experiencing the space, we may notice details that escaped at first sight. It is ‘The Model of an Experience’. Lines are one-dimensional, and planes two-dimensional or more. When moving between the work the experience is not just spatial but also temporal. With ‘Killing Time’ I mean disturbing the time, taking the time to really be conscient of the space.
